Turn on the app embeds in your theme

Some features (sales pop ups, announcement bars, quick add and more) run from an app embed: a switch in your theme that loads the app on every page. You turn each embed on once. Sections like reviews or the video carousel are added differently: from the feature’s page with Add to theme.

Turn an embed on from the app (quickest)

1. In the app, open Settings.
2. Find Theme and app embeds. Each embed has a status: on or off.
3. Click the link next to the embed you want. The theme editor opens with that embed already highlighted.
4. Make sure its switch is on, then click Save at the top right of the theme editor.

Turn an embed on in the theme editor

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. On your live theme, click Customize.
3. Open the App embeds tab (the icon on the far left of the theme editor, under the sections and settings icons).
4. Switch on the CRO Toolbox embeds you need, then click Save.

Which embeds there are

• Conversion boosters: the main one. Sticky add to cart, trust badges, sales pop ups, stock urgency, wishlist hearts and the holdout test. Turn this on first.
• Offers in your theme’s cart: cross sell offers inside your theme’s own cart drawer.
• Announcement bar: messages at the top of every page.
• Quick add to cart: a button on every product card.
• Bundle tray: lets shoppers build mix and match bundles from any page.

Check that it works

1. Open your store in a new tab. If your storefront is password protected, enter the password first.
2. Look for the feature you switched on, for example the announcement bar at the top of the page.
3. Back in the app, Settings → Theme and app embeds shows the embed as on. Home also shows a warning while the app is switched off in your theme.

If nothing shows

• Check you clicked Save in the theme editor. Changes in the editor are not live until you save.
• The embeds belong to one theme. If you publish a different theme, turn them on again in that theme.
• The feature itself must be switched on and saved in the app: an embed only loads the app, each feature still needs its own settings.
• Some features also need a plan that includes them. The app shows which plan when one is locked. See plans and billing.
